About the artist

Hi friends! I'm Julia, the lead makeup artist for Heavy Glamour Makeup Artistry, based out of Sacramento, CA. I have been doing makeup for 10+ years and specialize in alternative makeup styles, with all my adoration. I attended a small film makeup school in 2017 and shortly after began my independent makeup business journey, Heavy Glamour. Along with an extensive background in retail cosmetics working with several different brands, I have wide-ranging experience with editorial, fashion, bridal, film, and event makeup. I grew up an outcast, being made fun of for my dark clothing and heavy music. My goal is to be the open-armed makeup artist for those that think outside the box, and whose style is outside the norm. I love color, I love darkness, and I love being creative and working on set.

Helping people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin and enhancing natural features is important to me. Though I am also fascinated by the creative power of makeup and the spectrum of how much you can transform! I appreciate all makeup and am happy to assist in bringing my clients' visions to life. My chair is always open to absolutely anyone.

Aside from the beauty industry, I have a huge passion for music and animals. I am vegan and only purchase vegan and cruelty-free products (I do however still have some makeup in my kit from before I made this life alteration that I don't want to go to waste). I am also a musician, and the vocalist of the progressive death metal band Bleak Machine.
